New World Beer & Cider Awards: A brew-tiful partnership

Network has supported New World with its annual New World Beer & Cider Awards since 2016.

The competition, run by the supermarket brand, draws on the expertise of an independent panel of beer and cider judges to discover the very best from hundreds of entries. The highly anticipated Top 30 winners are then celebrated on New World shelves across the country, with the trusted gold stickers helping customers navigate the beer aisle and choose a new brew with confidence.

What we do:

Each year the Network team designs a phased and highly targeted communications and publicity programme to make the most of every news-making opportunity.

From supporting the call for entries, to tracking the trends at the judging event, to savouring every drop of winners’ news -- our programme reaches into, and beyond, the craft beer community to help customers connect with the competition, the winners, and the New World brand.

Collaborating with our client team and their other partner agencies, the expert judges, and the winners plays a pivotal role in the success of each campaign, helping uncover angles that resonate with a wide range of media and audiences.

Results:

The Network team deliver in excess of 100 media clips for the awards each year.

The most recent campaign coverage achieved a combined audience reach of 1.9 million.

Recent highlights include:

  • Providing journalists with a behind-the-scenes look at judging and unveiling the latest beer trends for coverage on nzherald.co.nz and Newshub’s lifestyle page.
  • Launching the 2023 winners announcement with two Radio New Zealand interviews, a prime time mention on Newstalk ZB Drive, and stories across four regional dailies within the first day of a four week campaign.
